Fuji Xerox Australia has demonstrated excellence in innovation and environmental management through the refit of a heritage listed industrial building in Rosehill Sydney. The project has achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating for the office fitout.
Fuji Xerox Australia commissioned The Footprint Company to carry out a life cycle assessment of the completed Rosehill office. Through material and service re-use Fuji Xerox Australia avoided:
- 44% embodied carbon emissions
- 2,845 TCO2
- 43% ecological footprint
- 25 GHa/ annum
- a reduction in ecological footprint equivalent to 1.5 planets from 1.7 planets.
Fuji Xerox Australia has operated an industry leading product stewardship program for the past 16 years and achieves zero waste to landfill from devices, parts, consumables and packaging collected from customers for reuse, remanufacturing or recycling. The Eco Manufacturing Centre plays a vital role in this commitment.
The Eco Manufacturing Centre is a state-of-the-art engineering facility that has returned over 11 times the original $22 million investment made in the year 2000.
The Centre has received multiple awards, including election to the UN 500 Roll of Honor for environmental leadership, a Banksia award for Leading in Sustainability and is currently a finalist in the 2014 NSW Green Globes for sustainability in the built environment – heritage buildings category.
