For 37 years IAIA has been holding annual conference and special events all over the world to promote best practices in impact assessment. IAIA pre-conference training courses are presented primarily by IAIA members and are open to all participants. IAIA18 is expected to attract more than 800 delegates from 70+ nations around the world.

Globally, societies are in transition due to environmental challenges, shifts in political power, and social changes. All these pose a threat to the sustainability of the physical and human environment, and growing inequality threatens both the social and natural environment.

Environmental management should serve to translate environmental costs into wellbeing benefits for all of humankind and not just the privileged few.

Some of the topics of the conference are:

  • Assessing and managing environmental risks in societies in transition
  • Contribution of IA to human wellbeing
  • Ecosystem services, health, livelihoods, and environmental justice
  • Energy and societies in transition
  • Environmental justice challenges of climate change
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Public participation

In addition to conference sessions, workshops, and training courses, you will be able to choose technical visits, sightseeing tours, networking opportunities, and more.
