The District Cooling System (DCS) is one of the most important green features to materialize the sustainability vision of GCC. By applying the DCS, benefits can be realized through cooling load sharing among the diversified cooling requirements, reduced standby capacity and spatial requirements. Apart from reducing the overall plant space, the operational cost, maintenance cost and energy efficiency can also be improved substantially and therefore be more cost-effective throughout the building life-cycle. Yet, there are many challenges on implementing the system. Issues on land use, planning, design, environmental, institutional and regulatory arrangement are substantial. This GCC District Cooling Symposium will discuss some of these challenges and the possible solutions for the DCS installed in GCC Region.
