Energy storage and microgrids are becoming essential parts of China’s energy transition. In 2015, the Chinese government announced major power sector reforms, signaling a renewed effort to build a cleaner and stronger energy system. Energy storage and microgrids are well-positioned to make big gains in the near future. Now is the time to learn about the industry and build lasting relationships.

China is undergoing a massive energy transition.

China’s top leadership has made commitments to significantly reduce carbon emissions. At the same time, policymakers are becoming aware of the costs of urban air pollution. These two drivers have laid the foundation for a big shift towards renewable energy.

As the share of renewables in the electricity mix rises, energy storage becomes increasingly important to maintain a stable power system. In response to these trends, industry observers are seeing a rising number of demonstration projects in China exploring how smart grids, distributed and off-grid generation, and utility-scale storage have a role to play in China’s new energy system.

China’s EV market is now booming, creating an opportunity for energy storage technology providers to make their mark in a rapidly growing charging infrastructure.

Since 2012, “Energy Storage China” has brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and academics to further the development of China’s energy storage industry. This year, we’re excited to bring you a greater focus on microgrids, a hot topic in the Chinese market. “Energy Storage China” is an excellent opportunity for Chinese and international companies to learn from one another and forge long-lasting partnerships. With strong backing by the Chinese government and GESA,the China Energy Storage Alliance and Messe Düsseldorf are proud to organize this event as part of the World of Energy Storage event series, covering North America, Europe, India, Japan and China.
