Development, Poverty Alleviation and Social Business

 

The Development, Poverty Alleviation and Social Business module examines the contributions that businesses can make to sustainable development with a particular emphasis on poverty alleviation. The module also looks into innovative business practices associated with social enterprises, micro-finance, inclusive growth, and the role business can play in community led approaches to poverty reduction. Participants will gain a better understanding of the potential of the private sector to engage in development and poverty alleviation and learn about a variety of business tools for pro-poor development.

The course will help participants to:

  • Understand the potential for the private sector to engage in development and poverty alleviation
  • Use a variety of tools to contribute to pro-poor development
  • Identify opportunities for small business development, social businesses and social entrepreneurship

The course costs 54.000 THB (approx. 1750 USD) and includes all meals.

This course is part of the Professional Masters Programme in CSR jointly delivered by the Asian Institute of Technology and CSR Asia. Participants can take this course as a stand-alone course and earn credits that can subsequently count towards the Professional Master’s Degree in CSR.
