BIG IDEAS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
18 June 2012 | Rio de Janeiro, Brasil
The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, or Rio +20, will take place in Brazil from 20-22 June 2012 to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), in Rio de Janeiro, and the 10th anniversary of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg.
With the aim to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assess progress to date and the remaining gaps, the Rio +20 Conference will focus on two themes: a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication; and the institutional framework for sustainable development.
This provides a unique opportunity for global leaders from government, business and civil society to move the green economy agenda beyond climate change and carbon emissions to include the broader issues of energy, agriculture, water, ecosystems, poverty and inequality.
To seize this opportunity and advance a new global agenda for sustainable development, a special B4E event will be held in Rio de Janeiro during the Rio +20 Conference. This event will bring together global thought leaders, heads of state, chief executives and visionaries to present their ‘Big ideas for a sustainable future’, delivered in a series of powerful and inspiring presentations.
B4E at Rio+20 will offer truly global solutions towards a more sustainable future for all. The future we want.
Participation at the B4E @ Rio +20 event is limited and strictly by invitation only!
