Africa Electricity is an exhibition and conference from the team behind the hugely successful Middle East Electricity. In 2013, visitors came from as far east as China and as far west as the USA to attend the Africa Electricity exhibition and hugely successful conference. Africa Electricity has now become theplace for energy professionals to network, learn, source solutions and do business in southern Africa.
The 2015 edition will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre based in the heart of the vibrant South African capital, Johannesburg, making the exhibition easily accessible for domestic and international visitors.
The demand for Power Generation in South Africa is higher than ever. The state-owned utility Eskom, who produces 95% of South Africa’s power, has had to announce emergency power shortages to keep the lights on in Africa’s largest economy, as it races to build new plants and avoid rolling black-outs. Bloomberg Businessweek reported about 23 percent of Eskom’s 42,500 megawatts of installed generating capacity have been out of service this year and capacity exceeded supply by an average of 7.5 percent in the period.
Africa Electricity provides a platform for the region’s power and energy sector to discuss and address the challenging issues of meeting demand, energy efficiency, distribution, transmission, generation, security of supply and cost efficiency in southern Africa.
