Advanced Materiality

18 August 2017 | 9am-1pm | $250

A materiality process is used to identify and prioritize the most relevant and significant environmental, economic, social and governance risks and opportunities from the perspective of the reporting organisation and its stakeholders. These are issues or topics which reflect an organization’s key economic, environmental and social impacts; or that substantively influences the assessments and decisions of stakeholders. Not all material topics are of equal importance, some are more critical than others. The emphasis each of these topics have within a report is expected to reflect their relative priority.

The Advanced Materiality Report is a very relevant course for organisations who have embarked on their sustainability reporting journey and are keen to enhance their materiality by taking things up a notch. As per GRI, materiality is concerned with two dimensions, i.e., a wider range of impacts and stakeholders, and this course will consider both these building blocs for your organisations sustainability reporting. Reference will be made to the expectations expressed in international standards and agreements such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) which have developed frameworks to further advance the approach towards clarifying what is material for reporting purposes. References will be made to global, regional and local best practice examples.
